Hey everyone!


I had the nicest surprise this week, David Mouse decided to create a video walkthrough of LoK:Revival!  *Applause*  Woohoo! :D  I started a new thread in the walkthrough section of the forum to add links to his videos as they come out,  Check it out!

I just found out that my game is advertised on a great Legacy of Kain fan website: The Lost Worlds.

I also found out that the game received a positive review from Ben Marty (the author of SGDK2) on the SGDK2 homepage.

Also, it would seem that LoK: Revival attracted the attention of another LoK fangame maker (I won't name him for the moment).  If all goes according to plan, the graphics of the game will be remade as 3D objects rendered in 2D.  It's a lot of work, so I don't know if or when it will be done completely, but it's currently in progress.

Of course, if it is ever completed, it would mean the game would have an authentic LoK feel from start to finish!  That would be great!

New stuff on the website

Hi everyone!


I added the whole game script on the website.  Mostly for those who would want to translate it and for those who would like to read the script again when they skipped something important and don't want to reload.  But you really should try to get to read the script in the game with images and animations: it's much better.


I also added a small gallery on the home page showing different areas of the game without spiling to much.  Enjoy! :)

What's up since Beta release?

Hi everyone!


So it's January 23rd, I released the beta version of the game exactly 1 month ago...  What happened since then?


Well, for starters, I took a well deserved break.  I answered questions, replied to suggestions, browsed the web to find comments and feedback.  Although there's a lot of people who downloaded the game (so I guess they tried it as well) there isn't a ton of feedback or bug reports.  So my list of bugs and improvements to make is quite short.  A week ago, I started making minor changes, debugging stuff, etc.


You can expect another versino of the game in February.  I'll name this one "release candidate 1".  So, if there's no other bug reports, it will be the official and final version.  If there are still some bugs, then I'll make another release candidate after that.

About 48 hours since the beta release

Well, it's been a litle less than 48 hours since the beta was released. The game was downloaded almost 200 times!  We're a bunch of Legacy of Kain fans around here! :)


I already received a couple of bug reports.  Hey, it's expected since it's a beta version.  I didn't have the luxury the to test on many computers so now sometimes issues come up.


If you encounter any bug, game crash or have a hard time with the game, I invite you to take screenshots of the problems (if you get an error window, please, please take a screenshot of that window, it will be easier for me to solve) and create new topics in the bug section of the forum.


If you have any suggestion, you can also create a topic in the suggestion part of the forum.  The forums are there for you! :)


For the moment, I will make a list of the issues to solve and when I have a lot of them, I will work on solving them and make another, more final, release version of the game.


If you don't have the game already, try it!  The more feedback I get, the more stable the next version will be.


On another subject, now that that the beta version is released, I might not make a new post in the news everyweek, since the project development is really giong to slow down until I get enough bug reports.  But I will still be here to answer questions and hang out. :)

2010/11/03 - Progress

Hi everyone,

 

I was thinking, since many people on the LoK: PS website are a little pissed (or more than a little) because they have no news on BO3D progress and LoK: PS progress, I can probably post news from times to times to keep you informed and tell you what I am working on.  Let's say I'll post a message once a week... or each time I reach a milestone in development.  What do you think?

 

So let's start right now! :)

 

Current work: I am working on a boss fight. 

I would like to tell you what boss it is, but since it involves the newly introduced character...  I prefer not to spoil it.  This fight is separated into two parts.  The first part is completely finished and the second part is at...  hum... let's say 30% done.  I think this fight will be finished at the end of this week or during the weekend.

 

Next step in development: the final battle with the Elder God.

I want this battle to be special and different than the other boss battles of the game.  Being the final battle, it has to be a climax. :)  Rather than directly develop it in the game, I'll try to make a proof of concept in a seperate project.  If all works well, I will integrate in the game.  Otherwise, I'll try to find a different approach.  It's the last developement challenge in this game so it might take a while to do it and it's hard to estimate how much time it will take.

 

General progression of the project:

3 months ago, I estimated that I would begin development of the last level in early december.  I am about one month earlier than estimated.  But, I don't want you guys to think you will have the game one month sooner.  I still don't know how much time the final battle might take, so I am still aiming for the end of december to release the game.

Legacy of Kain: Revival website is born!

It was a long road, but I finally get to see the end of it!

 

Legacy of Kain: Revival is almost here.  In a couple of months, it will be time to release the first complete beta version of the game.

 

I hope many people will have as much fun playing the game as I had to develop it!
